Star anise is the star-shaped pericarp of an evergreen tree fruit, usually bearing eight radiating boat-like points containing single glossy seeds. Rich in natural anethole, it provides a warm sweet-spicy perfume essential for slow-cooked broths, marinades, and five-spice mixtures. Supplied as hand-selected whole stars and broken segments.
